Cheerleader Winner

By Anne Warrington

Young Traveller Megan has won a place for the second year running in the super-successful Dazl Diamonds cheerleading troupe from south Leeds.

Megan with cheerleading trophyMegan, eight, has been dancing since she was four. She has attended classes in several different styles, including street, ballet and disco, but when she heard about the auditions for a cheerleading troupe she felt that this could be the style for her. She passed the audition and found herself part of a successful team who are winning every competition they enter.

“I love it!” says Megan “It means everything to me.”

Proud parents Jimmy and Donna are very supportive. “I always wanted to dance myself, so I am really pleased that Megan is getting the chance to do it. I am very proud of her. Ian, their trainer, makes the kids work very hard but Megan loves it”.

Last year they won the largest competition in Europe in front of 10,000 people, beating teams from all over Europe and America. In July this year Megan will travel with the team to Coventry to defend their title. We wish them all the best, and hope that they bring the trophy back to Leeds!
