Design a Calendar Page

IconGypsy, Roma and Travellers Throughout the Year

Create an image featuring Gypsy, Roma and Traveller culture and history that could be used as a page in a calendar. Choose a month or season and make a picture showing Gypsy Roma and Traveller history and culture in that month.

Calendar illustration

Choose Christmas, Easter, St Nicholas Day or New Year. Or an event like Lee Gap or Appleby Fair, Gypsy Roma Travellery History Month or the Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer Gypsy Festival in May.

In making your picure think about the colours in your chosen month, the weather or where you might be or might be going.

There will be prizes for each age category and your images might be used to create a real calendar. The Closing date is 27th May 2011. Please make sure that entries will arrive before then in the post.

Some images entered in this competition will be used to make a real calendar. Create and send us your image. We'll select the best images and add dates!

Each June GRTHM aims to celebrate the culture and history of the Travelling communities in the UK and raise awareness to help combat widespread prejudice, sterotyping and misunderstanding.

Finally add a title for your work and in up to 50 words explain what has inspired you to make your image.

All work should be A4 landscape format. It can be a drawing, painting, photograph or computer generated image, or any mixture of these.
The entries will be judged by staff of GRTAS Leeds.

Prizes and certificates will be awarded for each category in an awards ceremony on the 29 June 2011 in Leeds Civic Hall. The best entries will be chosen and made into a calendar. Competition winners will be entitled to copies, but further copies can be purchased from GRTAS Leeds at the awards ceremony.
